Emfuleni Local Municipality’s lack of household waste collection

The lack of household waste collection has prompted the DA to seek urgent clarification from the Emfuleni Local Municipality.

EMFULENI. – The Democratic Alliance Emfuleni Central says it is deeply troubled by the ongoing lack of household waste collection in Sebokeng, and the surrounding area.

Dady Mollo, the DA’s shadow MMC for Public Works, says that for the past six months, the community has been without essential waste collection services, leading to a concerning accumulation of uncollected waste.

“This situation not only poses health and environmental risks but also significantly impacts the quality of life in our neighborhood,” Mollo said in a press statement.

According to Mollo, the prolonged period without waste collection has become unsustainable, which led the DA to seek urgent clarification from the Emfuleni Local Municipality to address this critical issue promptly.

The DA demanded an explanation for the prolonged lapse in waste collection services and clarity on the reasons behind this delay and a definitive timeline for the resumption of regular waste collection services.

In addition the DA requested details on any interim measures that can be implemented to mitigate the impact of the accumulated waste on our community.

The party demanded that immediate action be taken to address residents’ concerns and prevent further deterioration of the living environment.
