ANC thanks voters for Ward 16 votes

According to the IEC, a total of 4 465 people voted in the by-election.

VEREENIGING. – Some sense of trust and belief was instilled in the African National Congress (ANC) in Sedibeng when its supporters voted for it in numbers in a By-election in Ward 16 last Wednesday.

The By-election took place following the death of former ANC Councillor, Madoda ‘Tata’ Mkhumbeni (ANC), who died in November last year, following a short illness.

Ward 16 is made up of Rus-ter-Vaal, Waldrift, and Arconpark. The newly developed informal settlement of Ramaphosa now also forms its part.

He concluded by calling on the Sedibeng communities to, “maintain their support for the ANC as we approach the national and provincial elections scheduled for May 29, 2024.”

The ANC’s candidate Taliyana Zinyana emerged victorious after receiving 37.51% of the votes, followed by the PA’s Victor Renatial Taks (32.61%). The DA’s Grace Damon came third with 26.25% of the votes, while the EFF’s Catherine Wilson received 1.84% of the votes.

According to the IEC, a total of 4 465 people voted in the by-election.
