Substance abuse awareness campaign at Mamello

This initiative was prompted by the arrest of two suspects found in possession of drugs.

SEDIBENG.- Vaal Marina SAPS, along with various stakeholders, hosted an awareness event on the dangers of substance abuse in Mamello Informal Settlement recently.

Led by Social Crime Prevention Coordinator Constable Tshilidzi De Huis, Vaal Marina SAPS collaborated with stakeholders including the Department of Social Development, Agape Lerato Community Service, Bontle Ke Botho, Midvaal Fire and Rescue, Eyethu Community Development, and the African Youth Development Fund.

The main purpose of the event was to educate the Mamello community about the dangers of substance abuse. This initiative was prompted by the arrest of two suspects found in possession of drugs. Recognising the urgent need to address this issue, SAPS aimed to raise awareness about the risks and consequences of substance abuse.

Police spokesperson, Constable Tshilidzi De Huis expressed pride in the event’s success, stating:

“The event aimed to reach the youth, men, and women of Vaal Marina. The community members were pleased that these services were brought to them.”
