I want to say thank you for the role you play working together with police to fight crime in our community.

MEYERTON.- De Deur SAPS station management in conjunction with the Community Police Forum (CPF) held a Community Patroller Appreciation Day recently.

This special event was held at Lapeng Hotel with the main purpose of thanking and appreciating patrollers of different areas within the De Deur policing precinct for their contribution to fighting crime.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, De Deur SAPS Warrant Officer, Tshegofatso Maliehe hailed this award ceremony as a great success. Speaker after speaker took this opportunity to motivate and applaud patrollers for their positive contribution to fighting crime in the community.

Lucky Xaba from Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) in his speech encouraged the patrollers to study and have a better future and told them that he also started as a community patroller and through hard work, perseverance, dedication, and discipline worked his way up.

“My words of advice to all of you is to empower yourselves to have a better future. I know what I’m talking about because at one stage I was a patroller. The De Deur Station Commander, Lucas Nkosi in his speech expressed his gratitude towards the patrollers and further retariated that with the support of CPF patrollers the picture of crime will change completely.”

“I want to say thank you for the role you play working together with police to fight crime in our community. You are the most important role players in our community and we will give you the necessary support to ensure that you do your job in protecting your community, especially fighting crime,” said Nkosi.

All the patrollers received food parcels, community in blue jackets, and a certificate of recognition as a token of appreciation from SAPS.
