Zone 11 couple kidnapped; ransom demanded

The daughter was ordered to transfer money to an unknown account via a banking app.

SEBOKENG. – A Kidnapping case is currently being investigated after a Zone 11 couple was kidnapped at their home in Sebokeng on Thursday.

Police spokesperson, Sergeat Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that the couple was sleeping when the wife heard a knock on the door and she asked who it was and the suspects alleged to be police officers. She opened the door for four unknown men who stated that they were investigating a case against her husband who had stabbed someone at a tavern.

The suspects ordered both the husband and the wife to go with them to the police station and on arrival go the vehicle, the wife hesitated to get in the vehicle the suspects were traveling in.

“One of the suspects grabbed the wife by the neck and forcefully pushed her into the alleged police vehicle which was parked outside the yard.  The suspects drove off to an unknown location and later called the victim’s daughter. The daughter was ordered to transfer money to an unknown account via a banking app. The kidnapped couple later managed to escape where they were handcuffed and held hostage. They later found out that they were in Kagiso, they managed to go to the police station and got assistance.”
