Tragic fire shocks traditional dance group

One of the boys also lost his tutoring material as he is the tutor at a secondary school situated in Sebokeng Zone 11.

SEBOKENG – The well-known local dance group ‘Ditshepe Tsa Ngwao Ya Setswana’ is calling on the community for help after a shack fire ruined their apparel and left two of their shacks destroyed. Two boys, who form part of the group, were staying in the shacks and lost everything.

Due to the fire the group lost their Tswana Dance attire, two single beds with blankets, a washing machine and one of the boys also lost his tutoring material as he is the tutor at a secondary school situated in Sebokeng Zone 11.

In order for them to go to the competitions or events they need attire, as they lost it during the fire.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, group founder, Lydia Motse emphasised how the fire affected them as a group, stating: “We have lost a lot due to the fire. We are in urgent need of attire as we have competitions that we need to attend. The two boys have also lost their clothes, beds and blankets.” Motse further pleaded

for material to use to rebuild the shacks so that the boys can have a place to sleep again. ‘Ditshepe Tsa Ngwao Ya Setswana’ is an enthusiastic and innovative company that deals with sports, arts and culture projects and programmes for the youth. According to Motse, this initiative assists youngsters to stay off the streets, avoid substance abuse, and evade teenage pregnancy.
