Midvaal team boasts excellence during annual Dräger challenge

Four teams from MLM took part in the challenge, with two claiming the first and second spots respectively.

MIDVAAL – The Fire Department of the Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) has excelled during the annual Dräger Fire Combat and Rescue Challenge, garnering the top spot for the fourth consecutive year.
The event was held at the Dräger offices in Woodmead, Johannesburg on July 25.
Four teams from MLM took part in the challenge, with two claiming the first and second spots respectively.
The teams were recognised for their great performance during the group challenges including the Cross-fit challenge, Toughest Firefighter Alive challenge and Confined Spaces Rescue challenge. Challenges included a specialised rescue simulation using the confined spaces truck.
MLM expressed its pride in the team’s exceptional prowess following the achievement.
MLM spokesperson Hester Fowlds says: “The event witnessed fierce competition from various fire and emergency teams across the country. The four teams demonstrated their unwavering dedication, extraordinary skills and unparalleled teamwork throughout the challenge.”

Fowlds states that the challenges assess the abilities of firefighters to combat real life emergency scenarios. The competition also recognised individuals who did exceptionally well in the various challenges.
