Kgosi Mabusa Sebobane of Deneysville writes:
As most Vaalies know, Deneysville is a charming boating town on the banks of the Vaal dam. Standing in one of the beautiful bays, I’m reminded of the natural beauty that makes this place special. But now, we need everyone’s help to keep it that way.
With the dry season upon us and the Lesotho Highland Scheme on a maintenance shutdown, the dam’s water levels are dropping. Unless we get significant rainfall, this trend will continue.
Sadly, litter and overfishing are tarnishing our lovely bays. Visitors often leave trash behind, and overfishing is taking its toll.
Local volunteers are doing their best to clean up, but we need more support.
Deneysville also faces challenges like poverty-driven crime and deforestation.
Nearby informal settlement residents chop down trees for firewood, turning our green spaces into deserts. We can change this.
Let’s work together for better municipal maintenance, environmental conservation, and support for our community. Help us make Deneysville a thriving destination for tourists and nature lovers’.
