EVATON.- A case of concealment of birth is being investigated by the Evaton police after a complaint was received from Evaton West Ext 11 recently.

Police spokesperson Constable Thulisile Msibi said upon their arrival, police were pointed to a baby girl inside a plastic bag.

“The baby was found inside a stormwater drain while Emfuleni Local Municipality employees were busy cleaning. The station commander is discouraging such behaviour [concealment of birth] and a case has been opened for further investigation.”

The child was declared dead by the emergency services.
