ANC Sedibeng calls for calm after lootings
"Sharpeville is one of the iconic townships in the history of our struggle for freedom."
SEDIBENG.- The ANC has called for calm and law and order following a spate of violence that took place in the area over the past week.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, ANC Sedibeng Regional Secretary, Jason Mkhwane said they call on the SAPS and all other law enforcement agencies to reign in and take control of the situation.
“We further call on all the community members and leaders to work with the police to ensure the safety of the people and property. Sharpeville is one of the iconic townships in the history of our struggle for freedom. We therefore cannot afford to have its glorious name negatively dented by such acts of violence.”
Mkhwane said that the party is also busy with a mid-term review to evaluate the performance of all municipalities.
