Door-to-door neighbourhood outreach

The campaign aimed to reduce domestic violence cases occurring in Mamello and the abuse of alcohol.

SEDIBENG.- The Vaal Marina SAPS conducted a door-to-door campaign at Mamello informal settlement t last week.

The campaign’s topics included:

  • Domestic Violence
  • Drug and alcohol abuse
  • Community Safety

Police spokesperson, Tshilidzi De Huis, said the campaign aimed to reduce domestic violence cases occurring in Mamello and the abuse of alcohol.

“The campaign was a success because the community was able to share most of the causes of gender-based domestic violence, which they acknowledged is alcohol abuse. They advised on how they think SAPS may assist in preventing the problem.  Some of the causes of domestic violence include alcohol abuse, school drop-outs, and unemployment as most of the youth at Mamello are not working and spending their time drinking.”
