SAPS talks school safety

“Even when they feel that they are not being heard, they should not stop reporting until they are heard."

EVATON. – Over five hundred school children were reached when the Evaton police, the Department of Social Development and the Gauteng Traffic Department held a school safety talk at Ekujuleni Primary School in Evaton on Tuesday.

The aim of the talk was to educate the learners about road safety, emergency contact details and bullying. The learners were also informed about refraining from bullying and that when they are bullied, they must report to their parents and teachers.

“Even when they feel that they are not being heard, they should not stop reporting until they are heard. The stakeholders also cautioned them about child abuse. They were informed that it is their right to report child abuse when it is happening at home or at school and that they can report to their teachers or parents so that they can get help or referrals that they might be in need of,” said police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi.
