Top school talent given spotlight

Hlatshwayo dreams of playing for Banyana Banyana and the Protea Netball team.

BOPHELONG.- On Thursday, Mpho Hlantshwayo (18) won two sports awards during the Hoërskool Vanderbijlpark awards ceremony.

This multi-talented youngster from Muvhango, Bophelong is one of the girls who play with and against boys at her club level. She scooped Netball Player of the Year and Football Player of the Season. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Hlatshwayo said she feels on top of the world after receiving both awards.

She told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this came as a surprise for her to win both awards. “I didn’t expect to win both awards because there were other good players I played with.

“I want to thank everyone who nominated me. These awards will serve as motivation to work even harder. I was not aware that I was talented in both sporting codes, I thought I was only talented in soccer. I also want to thank all the coaches who pushed me hard at training to realise my potential. I think I will pursue both sporting activities as it is evident that I’m good in both ,” said Hlatshwayo.

Hlatshwayo dreams of playing for Banyana Banyana and the Protea Netball team. She believes playing and training with and against boys gave her an advantage to develop her strength, especially physically.
