A bunch of drunkards!

Zakes’ Sports Corner believes that football in this region is run by a bunch of “drunkards”.

SEDIBENG.- It is like football in this region is run by a bunch of drunkards.

Excuse my ‘French!’ But it is what it is!

If the junior soccer teams had to persuade this matter, the Emfuleni Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Junior League would be declared null and void. The junior league football has concluded but all four Streams are unhappy with the capturing of the results. The final log standings are incorrect because some of the results were not captured at all.

The question Zakes’ Sports Corner is asking is where do we go from here, seeing that the final log is not a true reflection of what transpired throughout the season?

If this is indeed true, then the ELFA junior league must be declared null and void like the Super League. To date, the Super League was declared invalid because the association didn’t comply with SAFA rules. As if this is not enough, the football season before the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbet Regional League was declared null and void for failing to comply with the football rules.

There is no way that the Vaal can experience the same problem every season. Zakes’ Sports Corner was told that the final log standings of all the ELFA streams – Evaton, Sebokeng, Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark – are wrongly captured. This is due to coordinators either submitting results late or not at all. This has since confused some teams who strongly believe they were the winners in their respective streams.

For example, Evaton Stream told Yours truly, the self-appointed minister of sports, that the effort to engage the ELFA executive regarding this matter was fruitless, to say the least. Apparently, this is not the first time this has happened, as the same problem was presented last season.
Zakes’ Sports Corner challenges the ELFA executive committee to give this matter the attention it deserves.

It is unacceptable that football development in this region should be run like a tavern or shebeen, as if people are always drunk.
