Local learner gets call-up to provincial basketball team

Tladi has a bright future ahead of him.

EVATON.- Evaton Warriors Basketball rising star Lesedi Tladi (15) has been selected to represent Gauteng at the National Summer Games.

Tladi will represent Gauteng School Basketball at the games scheduled to take place at the University of Pretoria in December from 12-16. This Evaton Worriers Basketball Club point guard was selected to represent Gauteng after he passed trials with flying colours. Tladi has been on top of his game for his club and it came as no surprise when he was selected for Gauteng’s provincial basketball team.

This Isokwazi Secondary School learner told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this is the best way to end the year.

“This is the best news for me this year and I’m looking forward to making my presence felt in the tournament. It was always my wish to be part of the Gauteng Basketball Team and compete against the best in the country.”

The national summer games will see all nine provinces battling against each other for the championship. Tladi said he is ready to make a name for himself.

“I’m very excited and thankful to my coaches for pushing me hard at training. This is the result of hard work. I didn’t expect this to happen so early in my career,” said Tladi.

His coach, Jappie Hlalele told Sedibeng Ster Sport that Tladi has a bright future ahead of him. He believes Tladi is going to be a big name in basketball if his current star performance is anything to go by.

“I have no doubt Tladi is destined for a great basketball future. As Evaton Worriers Basketball Club we are proud of him. On behalf of everyone, I would like to congratulate him and wish him all the best,” Hlalele concluded.
