EVATON.- It is that time of the year when local soccer teams get ready for the 26th Annual Pooe Festive Tournament.
This 32-team soccer tournament will start on December 14, with the final expected to take place on December 30 at Pooe soccer ground in Evaton, Vaal. Like every year, local soccer fans are expected to pack the venue to capacity to watch Diski nine. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Nhlanhla Mashishiwane one of the longest-serving coordinators for this tournament, said preparations are underway.

Mashishiwane told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this Pooe Festive Tournament will be as exciting as previous ones. According to him, local soccer fans can’t wait for the tournament to start so they can watch the kasi football. This tournament is referred to as the ‘Kasi World Cup’ and sees 32 teams battle for R150 000. This is the biggest prize money for amateur soccer teams.
“We are ready to host a spectacle soccer tournament in Gauteng. The preparations are underway and soon we will call the meeting where all the clubs will be invited and briefed about this year’s proceedings. We have set a high standard and this year want to make it even better and bigger. This is about to go down,” said Mashishiwane.
The tournament will be launched on December 11.
