Rooisteen residents’ trouble with sewage

“There is no way we can live in these conditions."

SHARPEVILLE. – The Rooisteen residents in Hulwane Street are troubled by sewage in their yard. The resident claimed that they reported this problem three to four months ago but nothing has been done to fix their situation.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, one of the residents, Mzwakhe Kubheka, who is also affected by the sewage, said there is a foul smell over the ward and they have to close the door, but it doesn’t make a difference. Kubheka said they reported the matter but they are still waiting.

“There is no way we can live in these conditions. We are forced to close the door so that our children don’t go outside and be affected by the sewage. But it is very difficult to keep them indoors. We plead to Emfuleni to attend to our problem because there is no way we can survive in these conditions.”

At the time of going online, Sedibeng Ster was still awaiting a response from the municipality about this situation.
