SHARPEVILLE. – The Sharpeville police are investigating a case of arson following a domestic dispute that led to a shack fire in Phumasbethane, also known as Libya.

According to the Sharpeville Police Spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report from the complainant. The woman, whose name has not been disclosed for her protection, informed police that the incident followed a heated argument with her husband.

“Shortly after, she noticed the smell of petrol emanating from the shack.”

Concerned for her safety, the woman left to inform her mother-in-law about the situation. While there, she was alerted by neighbours about her shack being on fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no arrests have been made.

“We urge anyone with information to come forward as the investigation is ongoing,” added Constable Sango.
