Community unites against GBV and substance abuse

“The purpose of the awareness was not only to create awareness around GBV but also to encourage young people to make informed decisions about their lives."

SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police, the Sedibeng District Social Crime Prevention, FCS, CPF, FAMSA, SANCA, MASP, Vaal Community in Action, Brigades, Blue Ribbon, and patrollers embarked on an awareness at the Tshepiso Shopping Complex last Monday.

The campaign was aimed at educating the community on contributing factors to gender-based violence (GBV) incidents and issues of substance abuse.

Police spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango said, “The purpose of the awareness was not only to create awareness around GBV but also to encourage young people to make informed decisions about their lives and deter them from substance abuse. The collective joined in aerobics to encourage the community to keep fit and have a healthy mind.”
