Mother attacked, son murdered in home invasion

The suspect claimed he was looking for Mzimkhulu but then turned violent, tying up the woman and stabbing her.

SEBOKENG. – A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened at Sebokeng SAPS following a brutal stabbing incident in Zone 13, Sebokeng last Wednesday.

Mzimkhulu Nhlapo (27) was found tied up and stabbed to death in his home, while his mother sustained serious injuries after being attacked allegedly by the same suspect. According to Sebokeng Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane the deceased’s mother encountered the suspect inside their home and questioned his presence.

The suspect claimed he was looking for Mzimkhulu but then turned violent, tying up the woman and stabbing her.

“When officers arrived at the scene, they found the deceased tied up with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. The murder weapon was still lodged in his body,” said Sergeant Mokhachane.

The suspect fled the scene and his whereabouts are currently unknown. The victim’s mother, who survived the attack, remains hospitalised and is receiving medical care for her injuries.

Police are appealing to community members for assistance in locating the suspect.
