Youth empowered by Ahang Sechaba Community Organisation

As a proud and ambitious individual, I am committed to using this platform to raise awareness about social and mental health issues affecting the youth.

BOPHELONG.- The Ahang Sechaba Community Organisation successfully hosted our inaugural Face of Ahang Sechaba empowerment programme recently.

The organisation was founded in February 2024 by Karabo Makoanyane, Nhlanhla Ngonelo (The Mover), and Oratiloe Majaja.

It advocates for youth empowerment through skills development and raising awareness about contraceptives to reduce teenage pregnancies. It also supports early childhood development through donations of toiletries, stationery, career guidance, and a support system.

The Face of Ahang Sechaba programme is designed to identify and nurture young talent, providing a platform for them to showcase their skills and passions. Ayanda Qobokoane was the first Face of Ahang Sechaba overall winner. She took home a cash prize of R500, sponsored merchandise and a one-year contract from Best Attire which were the sponsors of the event.

“I am truly humbled and grateful to have been crowned the first Face of Ahang Sechaba. This platform is not just about winning a title, but about empowering young individuals like myself to make a difference in our communities. As a proud and ambitious individual, I am committed to using this platform to raise awareness about social and mental health issues affecting the youth. I believe that by sharing my story and experiences, I can inspire others to do the same, and together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change. I would like to thank Ahang Sechaba Community Organisation for this incredible opportunity, and I look forward to working with them to empower and inspire the youth,” said Qobokoane.
