NWU Vaal FC set to bounce back
In Stream A they played against Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, and Highlands Park among other teams who proved to be too strong for them.
SEDIBENG.- After being relegated from the SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL) A stream, NWU Vaal is set to recruit the best talent to reclaim their status when the season starts.
This NWU Vaal institution soccer team was relegated to the B Stream after finishing at the bottom of Stream A’s log standing at the end of last season.
Tebello Kheswa, the NWU Vaal FC Head of Development, told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they will start with the pre-season in the second week of January. The DGL season is expected to start in March. NWU Vaal FC was promoted to Stream A in their first season campaign in DGL. They were unbeaten in all the games they played. However, they couldn’t sustain the same performance when they promoted top Stream A, which was more demanding compared to Stream B.

In Stream A they played against Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, and Highlands Park among other teams who proved to be too strong for them. In a previous interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport, Kheswa acknowledged that playing against the above-mentioned teams was not easy.
“We will recruit the best talent around Sedibeng because we want to return our status in Stream A at the end of the season. This time be well prepared because we know what was our biggest challenges. We were competing against teams with good resources and travelling was also the biggest challenge for our players. They were not used to travelling to play as far as Johannesburg and Pretoria almost every weekend.”
