Perfect start for Perfect Academy

“We made it clear to everyone, especially the players that our target is to win the league. We will not tolerate mediocrity this time around."

SHARPEVILLE.- It was a perfect start for Perfect Academy when they beat Celta Vigo Development FC 3-0 in the Safa Sedibeng Hollywood Best Men’s League.

This minute-thriller encounter took place at the George Thabe Stadium on Saturday. It was the first game of the year after the Christmas break with Academy claiming the bragging rights. Perfect Academy is currently the log leader after winning nine games, one draw, and losing two.
Academy started the game with a clear intention forcing the visitors to defend with their backs. Despite the chilly weather, local fans came in numbers to witness this exciting encounter.

The game lived up to expectations with soccer fans enjoying every moment. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sechaba Mofokeng said the aim is to win the league title at the end of the season. Perfect Academy was the Stream A winner last season but lost the league with technicality after being found guilty of misconduct. The second-placed Young Pirates FC were declared the stream champions.

They went all the way to represent Sedibeng at the Inter-Regional Play-off for promotion to ABC Motsepe but failed to gain the promotion. However, Mofokeng said they want to go all the way to the playoffs this season. There is no doubt Perfect Academy has assembled the best squad in the league this season. They had a good run at the Pooe Festive Season when they finished in the semi-finals. They were the team to watch in the tournament and attracted a large number of supporters every time they played.

“We made it clear to everyone, especially the players that our target is to win the league. We will not tolerate mediocrity this time around – it cost us the league last season. The good thing is that we had a great start to the season. The only thing we need is consistency throughout the season,” said Mofokeng.
