ANC Sedibeng officials join Motara as schools reopen

Local ward councillors joined the visit to reaffirm their commitment to ensuring that the doors of learning remain open to all.

SEDIBENG.- The African National Congress (ANC) in Sedibeng represented by Regional Secretary, Jason Mkhwane and member of the Parliamentary Constituency Office (PCO) who is also Gauteng Provincial Legislature ANC Caucus member, Disebo Tlebere, joined Gauteng Human Settlements MEC Tasneem Motara, in visiting three schools in the areas they opened on Wednesday.

With the ANC recently celebrating its 113th anniversary and the year being declared the ‘Year of the Freedom Charter’, ANC members from the local ward joined the visit to reaffirm their commitment to ensuring that the doors of learning remain open to all and that schools are fully prepared for the new academic year.

“From now onwards, our schools must become far more than places of passive learning. They must evolve into dynamic, real centers of learning, where learners are not only equipped with academic knowledge but also prepared to take an active role in shaping the future of our nation. Schools must produce citizens who are not just ready to participate in society but who are empowered with the skills and knowledge to own and control the means of production. This means ensuring that our learners are given the tools they need to contribute meaningfully to the economy and the democratic process for the benefit of all. We are delighted that Mohloli, in Sharpeville, as a Maritime School of Specialisation, under the stewardship of Matome Chiloane, we are well on that path,” said the Regional Secretary of the ANC,Jason Mkhwane.

In addition to ANC leadership, the Executive Mayor of Sedibeng, Lerato Maloka, Ward Councillors, and representatives from neighbouring wards also attended the event at to show their support and highlight the significance of the first day back to school for both educators and learners.

Thulani Kunene, the current ANC Sedibeng Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of Committees of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) was also at Qedilizwe Secondary School in Evaton North accompanied by Ndade Mokoena, MMC for Public Safety in Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), as part of the School Readiness Campaign on Wednesday.
