Shanela yields positive results in Sharpeville

Fourteen police stations from Sedibeng District worked closely with other law enforcement agencies to stamp the authority of the law in the area.

SHARPEVILLE. – SAPS’ Operation Shanela was in full swing at the Sharpeville policing area yesterday.

This was as fourteen police stations from Sedibeng District worked closely with other law enforcement agencies to stamp the authority of the law in the area.

Police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango said that the operation was divided into two phases, phase 01 and phase 02.

“Phase 01 was the roadblock where 30 traffic fines were issued to the value of R 14 200.00. Phase 02 was the sting group and flash group where a total of 37 suspects were arrested for various crimes such as undocumented persons, possession of drugs, Gauteng Liquor Act selling of liquor without a valid license, and possession of illicit cigarettes.”

All the arrested suspects will appear at the Vereeniging magistrate court soon.
