SEDIBENG.- Zakes’ Sports Corner finds it very strange that these players from Vaal who are making headlines in the top-flight have never mentioned exactly which teams developed them.
When they make headlines, we are often told they are from the PSL club academies.
MATTER OF FACT, before they went to these PSL clubs’ academies somebody from the poorest of poor community discovered them!
To make it worse, you will hardly hear these commentators mention the name of the development teams these boys come from before they joined these so-called elite PSL development or academies. People must give credit where it is due!
The development coaches in Vaal remain poor while those PSL clubs make millions with these youngsters. Is this fair for the development coaches who discovered these youngsters even before the world witnessed their talent?
Absolutely not!
Zakes’ Sports Corner’s plea to those PSL clubs is that they should give credit where it is due. Local coaches fight among themselves about who developed those players but the reality is that they must take their fight to the PSL bosses. Fighting among themselves won’t benefit anyone because they won’t get anything at the end of the day. The problem with the development coaches is that they don’t profile these players while they are still young.
It is an insult to our football to see people who have done so much to discover these youngsters live like paupers.
Noooo!
Ladies and gentlemen, your egos are going to cost you your life. Don’t say Zakes’ Sports Corner didn’t warn you.
The biggest challenge with the local coaches is to win together and to grow together. The PSL clubs will continue to exploit your hard work as long as you are divided. Again, another big challenge is that regional football and LFAs don’t have a database for players that are coming from this region.
That is why everyone is claiming to have developed these players especially when they reach top-flight level.
Everyone just claims them!
Give credit where it is due!
