SHARPEVILLE.- Revival FC is on a mission to bring back football in the Tshepiso, Sharpeville, community.
The club was established in 2024 with the main aim of bringing football back into the area.
The club’s committee was formed to take this new baby to the next level in Sedibeng. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the club’s head coach Lehlohonolo ‘Zuma’ Masharole said there was concern that there was no longer a strong football club in the Tshepiso area. Masharole told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they had a meeting with all the former players and it was decided to bring football back in the area. He was optimistic that the club would rule Vaal football once again.
Masharole said Sharpeville is well known for producing the best players and the best teams. In the past, the area had teams such as Sharpeville Pirates FC, Crocodile FC, Everlasting FC, X20 FC, and Leeds FC to mention but a few.
“We are bringing back excitement in our area. In the past, we used to have exciting soccer teams here. We decided to come together and form a committee that will run the club. I have no doubt that we are going to achieve our goals and be a force to be reckoned with in local football. The aim is to compete in the local football leagues and the focus now is to put a good structure in place. There has been a lot of work behind the scenes since we started and we are happy to see the involvement of women in our football,” said Masharole.
Mamiki Thato is one of the women tasked with responsibility at the club after being appointed as the club’s Treasurer.
