Accused sentenced for Small Farms murder
An unknown man entered the Client Service Centre (CSC) and informed the police that he was handing himself over because he stabbed someone, and he thought that the person was dead.
EVATON.- The dedication and hard work of the Evaton police have come to fruition.
A 22-year-old Small Farms, Kanana man was sentenced to 12 years direct imprisonment by the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court following his conviction for murder recently.
It is said that on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at about 11:30, the Evaton police received a complaint of murder at Kanana in Small Farms, and a sector vehicle was dispatched. Meanwhile, an unknown man entered the client service centre and informed the police that he was handing himself over because he stabbed someone, and he thought that the person was dead.
The unknown man is said to have had blood stains on his clothes.
The police confirmed the address with the sector vehicle that attended the scene in Small Farms and enquired whether the person was dead. A witness was brought to the police station and confirmed that the unknown man at the station was the one who stabbed the deceased.
The man was immediately arrested.
On February 2, this year, the accused was sentenced.
Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi, said the verdict is the result of a thorough investigation and the dedication of the investing officer, Detective Sergeant Mkhonza, who worked tirelessly to ensure justice was served.
“We acknowledge the impact this case has had on the victims, his family, and the community. We hope this sentence provides them with a sense of closure and reaffirms our commitment to upholding the law. We thank the prosecution team, the investigating officer, and all those who contributed to securing this conviction.
