Makhalanyane is an upcoming gospel singer from Vaal

He is working on a new album called Back to the Roots.

BOIPATONG.- Karabo Makhalanyane is a gospel singer on a mission to establish himself among the best gospel singers from the Vaal. This Sharpeville-born gospel singer started his music journey at a very young age.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Makhalanyane shared his interesting story of how he started his music career. He told Sedibeng Ster that he used to steal his granny’s church hymn book and go practice singing. He said that is where it all started even though he would be in trouble with his granny. However, this didn’t stop him from pursuing his ambition to become a gospel singer.

He was in Grade Four when he started singing and joined the school choir. He also joined the church choir.

He recorded a single track, Dira Tsa Ka, in 2014. He then recorded an album called Tumelo Yaka in 2017. As if this was not enough, he recorded another album called Mohau, and as they say, the rest is history. This year he recorded the tracks Rea Leboha and Ke Ikgethetse Sion.

He told Sedibeng Ster that he is working on a new album called Back to the Roots.

He said he will be featuring Dr Winnie Mashaba on the album. Makhalanyane said he is a proud member of the St Engenas Zion Christian Church.

“I grew up like other kids but I had an interest in music at an early stage of my life. I guess it is my calling because I never imagined doing anything except singing. We all know that the gospel is about spreading the word of God. This is what I’m doing to preach the word of God through gospel music. I want to make a name for myself in the gospel music industry and tour the world to preach the gospel through music. I want to be different from other gospel singers, I want to heal those who are broken through my music,” he told Sedibeng Ster.
