Murder investigation launched following gruesome discovery

De Deur police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola confirmed police rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call from community members.

EIKENHOF. – A murder investigation is underway following the gruesome discovery of a lifeless body on the R550 Eikenhof Misgund. The incident happened on March 10.

De Deur police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola confirmed police rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call from community members.
“On arrival, our members found the lifeless body of an African male lying on the side of the road. The deceased is believed to be in his late twenties.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had sustained a gunshot wound on the head. He was subsequently declared dead by Emergency Medical Services.

The police are now looking for the family of the deceased. The deceased was wearing blue jean shorts with a grey top.

Police are urging anyone with a missing relative fitting the description of the deceased to report to De Deur SAPS.

“We plead with anyone who may have information regarding the incident to contact De Deur SAPS on 016 590 9200 or 10111. The information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.”

Mahlomola said police work tirelessly to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and brought to book.
