Murder at Solly Studio store

SHARPEVILLE.- Yet another Sharpeville shop owner has been shot dead.
A case of murder is being investigated by the Sharpeville police after a 55-year-old shop owner was shot to death in Putswasteen, Sharpeville on Tuesday night.
It is said that the Sharpeville Police were summoned to a scene of a shooting at the Solly Studio Shop in Putswasteen and on arrival at the scene they found an eyewitness who related the incident stating that they had just closed the shop and the victim was standing next to his vehicle waiting for her.
“An African male (a man) wearing black clothes approached the victim and shot at him with a firearm. The motor vehicle was struck by bullets and it was damaged. The victim was shot on the upper body, he was transported to Medi clinic by private vehicle where he passed on early in the morning (of Wednesday), said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango.
The motive of the killing is currently unknown, but the residents of Sharpeville say that it has to do with the, “shops business”. Late last year two local shop owners, Thabiso Maphike and Papi Mokhema were killed in a similar fashion.
Maphike was killed in Bophelong, and Mokhema in Tshepiso Phase 1, Sharpeville.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster about the recent case, Sango said, “The investigation is ongoing and the suspect is on the run.”
