This is a comedy of error – heads must roll!

How does somebody miss this?

SEDIBENG.- I thought this had nothing to do with local content, but I was wrong—it has everything to do with it.

If you are wondering what Zakes’ Sports Corner is talking about, I’m talking about Bafana Bafana. For starters, in a comedy of error, SAFA is at risk of losing three points and three goals for fielding Teboho Mokoena against Lesotho, who is ineligible due to accumulated yellow cards. If this is the case, South Africa’s chances to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026 could go up in smoke, to say the least.

How did SAFA miss this and not pick up Mokoena was suspended for one game?

Somebody was supposed to pick this up, but now, as a country, we find ourselves in this situation. Unfortunately, this happened when Bafana Bafana was doing so well, thanks to Broos Hugo. The man has turned the fortunes of Bafana Bafana around since he took over as the head coach of our national team. SAFA is to be blamed for this Mokoena situation, not the coach. This is a comedy of error from SAFA!

This is some of the basic information that SAFA, especially the Team Manager, is supposed to check each time Bafana Bafana is scheduled to play international or official matches.

How did somebody miss this?

Zakes’ Sports Corner doesn’t know!

This is ignorance at its best from SAFA’s side. If South Africa loses those three points, heads must roll at SAFA Headquarters, especially if this country fails to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. Zakes’ Sports Corner will watch with interest what decision SAFA will take against whoever is or was responsible for picking this up. Somebody failed to do his job, and he should hang his head in shame for putting this country in this situation.

Zakes’ Sports Corner will follow the development of this story with key interest!
