Residents should not pay their ELM bills directly to Eskom yet

Residents who fall under the Emfuleni Local Municipality were supposed to pay their electricity bills directly to Eskom from April 1.

However, it was found that there are still problems with the new Eskom bank account in which the money is payable, and residents are advised to continue to pay their bills to ELM this month.

Gerda Senekal – FF Plus councillor in Emfuleni, already explained in a previous report that Eskom was appointed as agent for the collection of electricity bills due to the municipality’s default on payment to the national electricity supplier.

“However, it has been brought to our attention that payments cannot be made as requested. We will inform residents when all the problems have been sorted out and they can then make payments directly to Eskom,” said Senekal.
