ELM residents must pay Eskom directly
Read on if you are still unsure about what to do or if you have experienced any payment issues.
All residents falling under the Emfuleni Local Municipality are reminded that electricity bills have been payable directly to Eskom since April 1.
Although there were initial problems with the direct payment, the reference number required 10 numbers, and most residents’ reference numbers only consisted of eight, this problem has now been resolved.
Residents who encounter this obstacle concerning payment should simply add two zeros (00) to the end of their reference number
Here’s how it works:
- All 76 000 account holders in Emfuleni must pay directly to Eskom.
- Electricity consumption, plus basic, plus consumption must be paid to Eskom.
- Emfuleni plans to amend the services bill, to indicate the portion payable to Eskom on the bill.
- Residents must use their ELM account number as the reference number
