In most cases, we have been told that sport, especially football, is all about business.

Not in my world!

Zakes’ Sports Corner will never subscribe to this theory. Sport is about education, fun, and entertainment. The reason why sport is gradually dying in our communities is because of the same theory.

HELL NO!

In the community that I come from and the community that I grew up in, sport was viewed as a form of entertainment. Those with long memories would attest with Zakes’ Sports Corner that to play any sporting activities was free. However, things have changed; children have to pay a certain amount to belong to certain structures in our communities.

This is because they were told that sport is all about business and to run their organisation they must pay a certain amount every month. This was never the case in our lifetime.

Sport has become a money making scam.

Yes, Zakes’ Sports Corner understands that some of the organisations don’t have sponsors to run their day-to-day affairs, especially when it comes to the maintenance of the facilities.

But MATTER OF FACT, not every child can afford to pay to participate in sports.

To play a sport, it is supposed to be free. It is supposed to be a mass participation. How is it going to attract participants if you make them pay to belong to your structures? Sport is gradually dying in our community because of this pay-to-play culture! Sport is supposed to attract mass participation in our communities.

Get rid of that theory that sport is all about business!
