Rise and Shine Youth Development aims at bringing changes in a special away

"This area has been neglected for a long time, and it is high time we, as young people, fight for what we deserve."

SEBOKENG.-Rise and Youth Development, together with Long Ox Sports, Clothing, and Projects, aim to bring change in a special way.

This multi-task organisation deals with men’s issues, such as social illness and assisting to bring change within the community. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by the founder of this organisation, Jacob Nkabinde.

The organisation is based in Kanana, Zone 12, Ext 1.

Nkabinde is the man behind this initiative, who specialises in youth challenges among other things. Nkabinde told Sedibeng Ster Sport that his organisation intends to organise a fundraising Altra Run Marathon from Sebokeng to the Union Building in Pretoria on June 16. He said the aim of this Altra Run Marathon is to challenge young ministers in Parliament, especially in the sports department, to consider the needs of young people in sports.

Nkabinde told Sedibeng Ster Sport that there is so much that needs to be done for township sports, especially since there are no proper sports facilities in the community. The Altra Run Marathon initiative is to raise funds to build netball and basketball courts in my community. Nkabinde confirmed with Sedibeng Ster Sport that there are no netball and basketball facilities in Kanana where young people can keep themselves busy playing the sport.

“Look, next year we are planning an Altra Run Marathon to the Union Building to get the attention of the Minister of Sports because we need netball and basketball courts in our community. This area has been neglected for a long time, and it is high time we, as young people, fight for what we deserve. Not having sports facilities in the community can result in a high rate of crime because young people are idling. This is the biggest challenge we face in our community, the lack of sports facilities,” he concluded.
