Murder accused handed life sentence

Moralo murdered his girlfriend whom he had reported missing at Sharpeville SAPS.

SHARPEVILLE.- Ashley Moralo learned a lesson the hard way after the Vereeniging Magistrate Court found him guilty for murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment on June 20.

Moralo was sentenced for the murder of Sharpeville teacher, Stella Gladness Skosana who was his then girlfriend.

Skosana was a teacher at Thuto-Lore Comprehensive School in Sharpeville.

“Moralo murdered his girlfriend whom he reported missing at Sharpeville SAPS on 2024-05-03. The missing report was filed and registered. It was later discovered that Mr Ashley Moralo who reported his girlfriend missing was the suspect,” said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango.

The conviction on 20 June 2025 comes as a result of an investigation led by Detective Sergeant Alfred Malindi, whose dedication ensured that justice was served after a docket of murder was opened, the suspect was arrested. Sharpeville SAPS acting station commander Lt Col JJ Jacobs welcomed the sentence and commended the persistent efforts and dedication of Detective Sergeant Alfred Malindi.
