GBV Soup drive awareness at Azania

“The soup drive is not funded or sponsored, but self-funded as it is aimed at encouraging other community members to give back to their respective neighbourhoods,”

SEBOKENG. The Sebokeng SAPS alongside (MASP), Indibano, GBV Brigades, and Thetha FM (The morning breakfast show) hosted a second annual GBV soup drive that was held at Azania in Sebokeng, yesterday, Wednesday, July 2.

The event was aimed at giving back to the community and raising awareness about GBV, substance abuse, and interacting with the Station Commander while she served soup to the children and community members.

This initiative was started last year in June by Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, Sebokeng SAPS spokesperson.

During the event, community members were advised to report any form of GBV and other crimes.

“The soup drive is not funded or sponsored, but self-funded as it is aimed at encouraging other community members to give back to their respective neighbourhoods,” Mokhachane said.

During the event, community members were advised to report any form of GBV and other crimes affecting them either at Sebokeng SAPS or directly to the Station Commander. Mokhachane said that the GBV soup drive will continue until July 9 and areas will be visited randomly to avoid stampedes.

The GBV soup drive will continue until July 9.

“The community members are advised to bring their containers in case they left senior citizens at home who may need soup.”

Brigadier Thembekile Kubone extended her gratitude to all participants who made the GBV soup drive. She further extended her sincere gratitude to Azania community members for their warm welcome.
