Tau Dia Rora celebrates Mandela Day
"We identified households that were in urgent need and delivered essential gifts such as blankets and food parcels.”
SEBOKENG.- In alignment with its commitment to social responsibility, Tau Dia Rora, a local civil and traditional organisation, chose to celebrate Mandela Day by dedicating 67 minutes of service to the elderly community at Monyaka, Zone 11, in Sebokeng last Friday.
This initiative not only honoured the legacy of Nelson Mandela but also highlighted their dedication to improving living conditions for those in need.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Muntu ‘Stone Kama, Tau Dia Rora Spokesperson, said that as the preparations for the Ward 35 by-elections commenced, Tau Dia Rora uncovered significant challenges faced by several families within the community, particularly among elderly residents.

“Recognising their struggles prompted us to take action. Our event was meticulously planned and executed without any external sponsorship; all resources were sourced from our personal finances. We prepared nutritious meals for both the elderly and children, ensuring that no one went hungry during this occasion. Additionally, we identified households that were in urgent need and delivered essential gifts such as blankets and food parcels,” Kama said.

He added that interacting with community members is a profound honour, particularly when engaging with youth and elders.
“The youth represent our future, while the elders provide invaluable guidance. These dynamic fosters a sense of continuity and shared purpose within the community that is essential for sustainable growth.”
The program of the day included various activities designed to engage participants actively. Games featured prominently, offering prizes such as gift cards and cash incentives.
