Midvaal engages business on economic revitalisation drive
Executive Mayor Peter Teixeira and members of the mayoral committee led the engagement to dispel misconceptions and reinforce the municipality's ongoing support.
As part of its economic revitalisation strategy, Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) recently engaged with businesses in the Meyerton Central Business District (CBD). The aim was to strengthen relationships, encourage local investment, and promote hiring and procurement within the community.
Discussions focused on improving service delivery, safety, and the overall look and feel of the town, while also exploring ways to reduce red tape for businesses.
Concerns around the sustainability of foot traffic in the CBD since the opening of Riverstone Mall, were also addressed. Executive Mayor Peter Teixeira and members of the mayoral committee led the engagement to dispel misconceptions and reinforce the municipality’s ongoing support.
Recent investments in the CBD include the construction of new trading stalls near the taxi rank, the upgrade of Station Road (east side) and Diens Avenue from gravel to tar, the addition of a sidewalk with parklets, and a new traffic circle, improving access from Sicelo and nearby areas. The rehabilitation of Johan Le Roux Road also enhances the flow of goods and services through the town.
With several projects underway, MLM remains committed to building a thriving, inclusive economy and a business-friendly environment that fosters growth, sustainability, and local empowerment.
