Man arrested for discharging a firearm in a municipal area in Zamdela

SASOLBURG.- A man has been arrested after shots were fired on a street in Zamdela.
This after a police constable heading to work on Saturday (August 9), at about 06:45, heard several gunshots and saw an unknown African man running towards a silver BMW with a Gauteng Province registration, firing several shots.
The member called for backup, and the suspect was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a firearm.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani said that although the suspect’s firearm license was valid, he was arrested and detained for discharging a firearm in a municipal area.
The firearm was seized, and nobody was injured. The suspect is expected to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on a charge of discharging a firearm in a municipal area.
