Telling a story together…Finding Khethiwe
The film is set to be shot around the Vaal area, giving local communities visibility and creating opportunities for local talent.
EVATON.- Local Project and Filmmaker, Mpho Noko, who is also an actor, a producer, and a director, is on a mission to tell local stories that inspire.
With a passion for telling authentic South African stories that inspire, educate, and create awareness, Noko has, over the years, been involved in acting and building his career in the film space.
“I am now stepping forward as a producer and director to bring one of the most important and socially relevant stories to life. The project I am currently developing is titled Finding Khethiwe, a feature film centred on the painful realities of human trafficking and the abduction of innocent young girls.”
This story, said Noko, reflects challenges that affect many communities, and it aims to raise awareness, spark dialogue, and encourage solutions.
The film is set to be shot around the Vaal area, giving local communities visibility and creating opportunities for local talent, crew, and businesses to be part of the production.
“I am humbled to request stakeholders, businesses, and community leaders to partner with us as sponsors and supporters of this important project. Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has signed and provided me with a letter of Support from the Arts & Culture Department.”
Noko said that the budget request is around R100 000, which will go towards production, logistics, equipment, and cast/crew support.
“Auditions will be announced soon, opening doors for local actors and creatives to join us in this journey. As a filmmaker from the Vaal, my vision is to produce the first-ever feature film of its kind in our area — a story rooted in truth, courage, and hope. With your support, Finding Khethiwe can become a powerful project that shines a light on a hidden crisis while also uplifting our local arts industry. Together, let’s tell this story and make a lasting impact.”
