Railway subway in Vereeniging flooded again

The notorious subway turned into a mini-dam again this morning.

VEREENIGING – Motorists who regularly travel through the well-known subway beneath the railway bridge in General Hertzog Road/Rhodes Avenue are advised to use alternative routes.

The section of road under the bridge is once again flooded, as has happened several times before.

Residents reported that vehicles were struggling to get through.

Some motorists had to turn back.

The subway has been a problem area in Vereeniging for years, especially after heavy rains when drainage appears inadequate.

Residents have once again voiced their frustration and are calling on authorities to consider a permanent solution.

Drivers are advised to use alternative routes where possible until the road is declared safe and dry again.

Motorists who must pass through the area are requested to drive slowly and avoid attempting to drive through deep water.
