Pirates’ supporters visit local homes from charity purposes

"I want to challenge supporters of other clubs to also get involved in charity initiatives.”

SEBOKENG.- Orlando Pirates Greater Sebokeng Supporters Branch visited children’s homes, Tshepong Day Care Centre and Vaal Home-Based Centre, over the weekend as part of their charity project to help the community.

This is not the first time they have been involved in a charity project. Recently, they donated clothing to a family in Small Farm. They also made similar donations to those aforementioned centres.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Greater Sebokeng Supporters Branch spokesperson, Mzwakhe Zondo, said this initiative is part of their ongoing charity project aimed at improving the lives of people from disadvantaged backgrounds within the community.

He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that football can be a powerful tool for social change.

“As Pirates Creater Sebokeng Branch, we are committed to helping as much as we can to improve the lives of our community through football.
Zondo added that he was deeply moved by the gratitude shown by the beneficiaries from both homes. I was very humbled by how much they appreciated the small contributions we made to both homes. Like I said in our previous interview, I want to challenge supporters of other clubs to also get involved in charity initiatives,” he said.

“I do not doubt that if more supporters from other clubs get involved, we can bring about meaningful change in our community and help those who are in need. We all know how tough things have been, especially after Covid-19, when many families lost their jobs and some companies were closed,” Zondo concluded.
