ANC Sedibeng regional conference held
Some of the key priorities from the delegates were to revitalise Sedibeng’s industrial base, attracting new industries while supporting the expansion of existing ones.
SEDIBENG.- The ANC Gauteng Provincial Task Team (PTT) has welcomed the successful convening of ANC Sedibeng Regional Conference held from November 21 -23 at the ANEW Hotel in Benoni.
The Conference was held under the theme: “Building People’s Power Towards a Capable and an Inclusive Vaal Regional Economy”.
The PTT Co-Convener Panyaza Lesufi was accompanied by comrade Hope Papo, the PTT Coordinator including the PTT and NEC deployees to the region, officially opened the Conference on Friday, November 21.
The Conference elected the regional leadership collective, which will led by the following officials:
- Chairperson: Mlungisi Hlongwane
- Deputy Chaiperson: Sibongile Soxuza
- Regional Secretary: Jason Mkhwane
- Deputy Secretary: Mamohale Moloi
- Treasurer: Hassan Mako

This marked another peaceful and progressive conference organised by the regional leadership of Sedibeng since the last Regional Conference in 2022. This was evidenced by the high level of discipline and active participation of delegates throughout the conference in commissions and plenary sessions.
Delegates – in their adopted resolutions and declaration – focused on organisation renewal, economic transformation, social transformation, service delivery and good governance.

In his closing remarks on Sunday, November 23, the newly elected Regional Chairperson, Mlungisi Hlongwane, reminded the conference about the words of ANC President O.R Tambo by quoting that, “The ANC is not a political party in the ordinary sense of the word. It is a force for liberation, an instrument of the people, at the service of the people”.
The conference was finally closed by the ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, who emphasised among others the importance of preparing for greater participation of delegates on policy matters at the forthcoming ANC National General Council in December 2025.
