VANDERBIJLPARK.- Sedibeng Basketball League selected its All Stars players during the Top Four play-off games held on Saturday at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) basketball courts.
The selected players were Sicelo Mdlalose (King Basketball Team), Floyd Mofokeng (Sharpeville Tronjans Basketball Team), Oscar Takarupiwa (TSW Basketball Team), and Anele Chitlango (female player from Bownies Basketball Team).
There was also an award for an outstanding individual: Aisa Akhurebor from the Brownies Basketball Team.
He walked away as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the day. Back to the games, Brownies Basketball Team was crowned the winners, with TSW Basketball Team finishing as runners-up.
The Sharpeville Trojans Basketball Team finished in 3rd position.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Pinky Machobane said that the top four play-offs were a great success with a high quality of basketball on display. However, Machobane told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the participating teams promise to develop female basketball teams for next year’s league. Machobane said she does not doubt that next year this league will be bigger and better and have more teams, especially girls’ basketball teams.
“We want to thank all the teams for making this league what it is, and next year it is going to be bigger. We aim to have more girls’ basketball teams in our league, especially the junior basketball teams. The teams promised us that next year they will focus on the development of girls,” she concluded.
