Perfect Academy shows Metro Stars FC stars

“We didn’t have a proper warm-up up and this is the reason why we struggled throughout the game."

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Metro Stars FC saw the stars when they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Perfect Academy in the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywood Men Regional League top of the table clash at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday.

It was an exciting game to watch with both teams first and second on the log standings. This was the first defeat for Metro FC since they started their league campaign in September.

Despite the defeat, Stars FC created a clear scoring chance but failed to take advantage of Perfect Academy’s defense, which found itself wanting on more than two occasions.

Stars FC forward men would either shoot wide or sky rocket the ball over the goal posts.

The worst scenario was a one-on-one situation with Perfect Academy’s goalkeeper.

The home team could have taken the lead as early as 10 minutes into the game. Perfect Academy took the lead courtesy of Mmuso Nthebe.
It was a goal from a top drawer with individual brilliance outside the eighteen-yard area. Metro FC looked like the visitors as Perfect Academy dominated the proceedings.

Metro Stars FC players were slipping all over the field looked like they were wearing the wrong soccer boots on the day. The game went to halftime with Perfect Academy leading 1-0. The visitors began where they left off in the first half as they continued their domination, with Tshepang Ntlaba and Nthebe stretching the lead to make the final score 3-0.

WORDS FROM ASSISTANT COACH: France Mofula, “We didn’t have a proper warm-up up and this is the reason why we struggled throughout the game. I made the players aware before the kick-off that we didn’t have a proper warm-up. But please, I’m not a head coach; you can talk to a coach because I’m just an assistant coach.”

However, Sedibeng Ster Sport attempted to get hold of the head coach, but at the time of going to print, could still not reach him for comment.
