December is Sobukwe and Bedworthpark Month

The Bedworthpark community is complimented for its unity and selfless gesture.

SEDIBENG.- For Diniso Arts Complex, December 16 is a day of giving salute to the Bedworthpark Residents Association (BRA) leadership, those living and the late ones, as well as Bedworthpark Ward Committee members, and paying tribute to Bedworthpark families.

This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster by Diniso Arts Complex, founder and director, Iga-Makhulu Diniso.

Diniso said that from December 5 until December 21, Diniso Kasi Arts and YABO-N AfroCuisine, in collaboration with VACO and ERE, will be celebrating Mangaliso Sobukwe and Bedworthpark residents through Arti-Culture and Agri-Culture, which forms part of the Sobukwe Birthday Black Power Festival to be hosted at Diniso Arts Complex from 12:00 to 18:00.

“December 5 will be the day that we will be observing Mangaliso Sobukwe’s birthday,” Diniso said.

The buildup activities are Fridays of Music and Poetry with snacks from 18:00.

The Art and Veg Market on Saturdays is from 10:00 to 17:00, and on Sundays, Live Music & Light Meals from 12:00.

Diniso said that the Bedworthpark Residents Association (BRA) is saluted for its firm commitment to engaging the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) for its lack of basic service delivery, wrongful billing, and illegal student accommodation approvals.

He added that the Bedworthpark community is complimented for its unity and selfless gesture, where it managed to put out a fire at a burning house on Chloe Avenue. They thereafter revamped the house by means of leftover building materials found in backyards and garages of neighbours.

Theatre actors, visual artists, crafters, storytellers, and people in the food business and tourism are called to participate in the upcoming festivities.

Diniso Arts Complex is based at the corner of Hector and Eros Streets in Bedworthpark, Vanderbijlpark. Contact Diniso on 084 282 9160 or WhatsApp 062 454 5315 for more information and participation.
