Meyerton detective applauded for securing conviction

Meyerton detective congratulated for thorough investigation.

Meyerton – Station Commander Senzangakhona Christopher Mohale praised Sergeant Morongwenyane Innocentia Mofokeng for securing a murder conviction through exemplary investigative work.

Mofokeng’s thorough investigation led the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court to sentence David Sedelo (30) to 10 years’ imprisonment for stabbing and killing his girlfriend.

According to police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, the incident occurred on December 17, 2023. Zazini reports that police were called to the scene following a domestic violence complaint.

“Upon arrival, officers were directed to the body of a woman lying in a pool of blood. Police were informed that the deceased had been in a relationship with Sedelo and that he had stabbed her,” Zazini said.

Sergeant Mofokeng, who has served in the Serious and Violent Crime Unit for more than a decade, ensured that the investigation was thorough, leaving no stone unturned.

Commenting on her efforts, Mohale said, “We congratulate the member on the successful conviction and sentence. I further encourage all members to continue working with integrity and to serve this country with pride.”
