MKLWV’s Greater Evaton Sub-region celebrates formations’ 64 years
Child headed families of veterans are affected by unemployment and poverty.
EVATON.-The Greater Evaton Sub-region of uMkhonto Wesizwe Liberation War Veterans (MKLWV) celebrated the formation of the wing on Tuesday, December 16.
The greater Evaton sub regional military veterans of African National Congress celebrated 64 years anniversary of formation of MK that was founded in December 16, 1961.
The event was held in Extension 11, Evaton West, Extension 11 Cycle Park with with support of ANC branches and military veterans also families of fallen heroes as spouse and beneficiaries. The celebrations were held under the theme: “Military veterans welfare for us all internal, and external cadres of MKLWV”.
The speaker of the day from SEDIBENG MKLWV RIC, Happy Seatlanyane, the Regional Convener encouraged military veterans to focus on building strong military veterans association that will assist the families of fallen heroes, spouse and beneficiaries by compiling the data base of those who has passed matric and with tertiary education to be assisted.
“Also, child headed families of veterans are affected by unemployment and poverty. Veterans (themselves) are struggling to be absorbed in the department of military veterans data base. We encourage full participation on local economic growth and development through registration of businesses as Sedibeng is one of the economical hubs depending on farming , greening and infrastructural development.”

This was the third time the event was hosted by MKLWV Greater Evaton Sub-region.
McBride Motsoeneng urged the community of military veterans to also to rally behind the ANC in the area and work closer towards the upcoming 2026 local government elections. The Sub-regional leadership team consist of Floyd Mahano, Head of Communication, Gijimane Ntshangase , Lolo Mbele and Churchill Hlahane amongst others .
Meanwhile during the program of the day the team managed to visit two families and the late Koko “Bojaboja” Maphogosho and Potsotso “Tso” Sebotsa accompanied by ANC ward 24 and Ward 26 Branch Executive Committee members.
“We are building strong relationship with ANC branches also our military veterans members will participate in the ANC election machinery of 2026 local government elections,” Mahano said.
